Common Questions

1. How do you usually work with clients?

My mission is to help professional and executive women who are new to motherhood and need equilibrium in their work-family life balance. I am reachable from anywhere in the world.

Women with successful and high powered careers often find it difficult to adjust to motherhood and the potential sacrifices and life changes it demands. You may have gone into motherhood thinking it would be straightforward, rewarding, and easily balanced with the relationship you have with your partner. The reality can be quite different. You may be struggling with guilt at not enjoying parenthood as much as you had expected. You find it incredibly tough, with a whole new set of problems emerging in parts of your life you thought had been settled. Targeted support for professional and executive mothers is generally hard to obtain. Your partner, family and friends can often find it hard to relate. As a result, you may find yourself feeling overwhelmed and lost, while battling disappointment at what you have given up.

Ever thought about what differentiates a coping mother from a thriving one? About what cost to a marriage or career an unhappy mother is? Every couple wants to remain and find ways to make their relationship work in times of great change and challenge, not to mention wishing to keep doors open on careers goals and opportunities whilst having children. Professional and executive women can achieve this by working with me.

The way I do this is first by actively listening. I then coach, giving my clients the sounding board, the boost in self confidence and the wider thinking capacity they need for us to explore and identify any problem behaviours and mindsets that are holding them back.

Together we develop the action plan required to reach the necessary and very achievable goals, allowing you to be able to do what you love, being a parent whilst still retaining enough of your identity, career and relationship to keep you fulfilled.

You will be able to dictate the direction of your life, on your terms without feeling sacrifice or unwelcome compromise. You will be able to apply these learnings not just in the short term but in later life. By investing in yourself, you are investing in your marriage, your career and your children.

2. What can I expect from the call?

Your call allows you to tap into the expertise of coach and confidante, Dr. Lucy Davey. Dr. Lucy is going to do an in depth analysis of what is currently NOT working in the core areas of your life and once we’re both clear on what’s going on we’ll discuss your goals. If Dr. Lucy determines that working with her is your best next step toward achieving your goals and developing solutions to the multiple aspects of your life, we’ll talk about that. If it ends up not being a fit, she’ll still point you in the direction of resources that can help you.

3. Who is Dr. Lucy Davey?

Dr. Lucy is a medical doctor, trained by Barts and the Royal London Medical School, who then completed core training in Psychiatry. As a mother of two young children herself and married to a successful farmer, she is only too aware of the subsequent conflicts that arise between career goals of professional and executive women when wanting to maximise their enjoyment of parenthood. She has also been an elected local government representative, educator and trainer. With such strong grounding for a coach in this sector, who herself has overcome many hurdles requiring resilience in her personal and professional life, including focusing on having children after her mother had been given a cancer diagnosis, it is hard not to feel comfortable and in safe hands in discussing the many feelings, conflicts and emotions which may be tormenting you in your day-to-day life and preventing you from being the mother you really are. Her supportive, relatable personality offers that warmth and encouragement so many women are missing in this stage of their lives.
